Race Village is open and the festivities are underway. It is going to be a great weekend here at the Port Huron/Sarnia International Powerboat Race at Desmond Landing. There are boats everywhere, all sizes and colors, and vendors selling everything from sunglasses to the best pizza I have every had. Lily’s Woodfire Pizza is set up at the south end of the Great Lakes Maritime Center and they make a superb pizza. The band, unfortunately, is from Detroit, but they sound pretty good. They are “The Roots Vibrations” and they play a reggae beat. Tomorrow Race Village opens at noon with the first band, “Never After” takes the stage at 3:00 followed at 5:30 by the band “Not Guilty”. The Meet and Greet with the Drivers of the boats begins at 8:00 pm and “Static Groove” will take the stage at 8:30. From 10:00 to 11:00 the music will be provided by “Gasoline Gypsy” and ace Village will close at midnight. Don’t forget the Great Lakes Maritime Center has air-conditioning, as well as coffee, donuts, soup, salad, and sandwiches at the “Coffee Harbor” restaurant. They have extended their hours for Friday and Saturday to 10:00 pm for your convenience. Hope to see you down here at the races.
