87th annual Port Huron to Mackinac Race – Denali

The Denali, ready and waiting to go

Congratulations to the Denali crew for fourth place in the IRC A class!! And ninth in the IRC Overall!  You guys did great.

Sailing out of Racine, WI is the Denali; a 66.81 ft. Nelson Marek 68 Turbo vessel with carbon fiber construction throughout her hull, mast, and boom.  She has a registered crew of 16 with an active crew of 15, 13 of which have sailed together for over 30 years.  This is the crews first year with this vessel and they said they are still learning her personality.  The Port Huron to Mackinac is their third race with her and their hopes are high, as she is a sleek and swift vessel with a great potential to be a winner.  The crew arrived in Port Huron yesterday and had the opportunity to enjoy the sights, sounds, and excitement of the Boat Night Festival.  Crew members comments on the festival ranged from “It was an awesome and inspiring thing” to “I would love to know how to start something that rare back home, everyone should be able to enjoy something like that.”  Thank you, Denali crew for the high praise you have offered to our town.  Godspeed and protection on your voyage!
